Ancient Turkey Tour Detailed Itinerary
8 Nights/9 Days
Day 1 Arrive Istanbul
Arrival and transfer to the hotel.  Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 Istanbul
Breakfast. Visit the Jewels of Constantinople: Visit of the Blue Mosque one of the most perfect Ottoman mosques.  The Roman Hippodrome. We will continue with the visit of the Topkapi Palace, the former imperial residence of Ottoman Sultans until the 19th century, where the major parts of priceless objects pertaining to the Ottoman Sultans are exhibited. Visit of Hagia Sophia, one of the most achieved masterpiece of the Byzantine architecture and the humanity. Lunch. Continuation to the Grand Bazaar. It is a covered market place built in 1660 and considered as a small town covered by hundreds of domes, four thousand shops inside with small streets, places and 18 gates. Overnight at the hotel.
turkey660 Day 3 Istanbul – Troy – Canakkle
Breakfast. Morning departure by bus to Troy, famous ancient Turkish city which evokes another poetic name: The Iliad by Homer; visit of the representation of the Trojan horse, built to commemorate the ingenious device that served to hide the invading warriors of the city. Lunch. Transfer by bus to Çanakkale, located on the Asian side of the Dardanelles. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4  Canakkale – Pergamun – Kusadasi
Breakfast. Departure to the ancient city of Pergamum, one of the major cultural, commercial and medical centers of the past. Visit of the famous Asclepion. Continue to Kusadasi. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
kusadasi Day 5  Kusadasi – Ephesus – Pamukkale
Breakfast. Departure to Ephesus, the best preserved ancient city in Asia Minor. During the first and second centuries, it had a population of 250,000 and monopolized the wealth of the Middle East, then continue the visit in the House of the Virgin Mary, alleged to be the last resting place of Jesus’ Mother. Visit of a leather shop. Lunch. Continuation to Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 Pamukkale – Konya – Cappadocia
Breakfast. Departure to visit the ancient Turkish city of Hierapolis and visit to the natural wonder of the grand white waterfalls; stalactites and natural pools formed over the centuries by the passage of water laden with calcareous salts, from hot springs, known as Cotton Castle. Continue to Konya to visit the monastery of the whirling dervishes founded by Mevlana. After lunch continue towards the region of Cappadocia. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
cappadocia Day 7 Cappadocia
Breakfast. Departure to visit this fantastic region famous for its fascinating and unique landscape, formed by the lava thrown out by the volcanoes Erciyes and Hasan 3 million years ago. Visit to the underground city of Özkonak, the numerous monasteries and chapels of the Göreme Open Museum, excavated in the rocks and decorated with frescoes of the tenth century. Lunch. In the afternoon we will visit the Fortress of Uchisar, Avcilar Valley, the pottery town of Avanos and workshops for rugs and crafts. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 Cappadocia – Istanbul
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport at the convenient time to Istanbul. Day at leisure to visit the city. Possibility to realize an optional full day tour. We will start our visit with Pierre Loti, from where you can see an admirable view of the Golden Horn. We will continue with the visit of the New Mosque, one of the outstanding mosques of the city near the Egyptian Bazaar, where the spices were sold during the Ottoman Period. Lunch in a typical fish restaurant on the seaside. Finally, we will embark for a cruise on the Bosphorus crossing the Asian and European parts of the city from where you will see the Dolmabahce Palace, the Ciragan and Beylerbeyi Palaces and the Rumeli Fortress, etc. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 Depart Istanbul
After breakfast you will be transferred to Istanbul airport for your flight home.

The return flight is from London Heathrow or Gatwick to Istanbul. If you wish to fly from any other airport please ask us and we can quote you accordingly.
